Fanstel Evaluation Boards for BT840 Modules

Fanstel Evaluation Boards for BT840 Modules are used to evaluate the BT840, BT840E, or BT840F modules. The boards have the same footprint as the Arduino UNO R3 but are not Arduino-compatible boards. Nordic development tools are required for firmware development. Most Arduino UNO R3 shields can be used with the board. Take advantage of BLUETOOTH® 5 advanced features when used with Arduino shields. A single order is preloaded with SLAVE firmware for use with Nordic nRF connect. The Evaluation board for BT840E includes an ANT060 antenna.

    • High voltage power supply accepts up to 5.5V DC for direct connection to Lithium batteries or 5V system power. An external voltage regulator is not required. Your total system cost can be lower, and your PCB size can be smaller.

    • Embedded CryptoCell 310 co-processor can be used to provide a more secure connection and to prevent hackers.
    • BT840 is required if your BLUETOOTH® 5 devices are used in mesh networks with many nodes for desirable performance. Security is mandatory in BLUETOOTH® mesh networks. By offloading decryption, encryption, and authentication works to CryptoCell-310, BT840 can deliver high performance in BLUETOOTH® mesh networks.

  • Range
    • Range between two BT840Es is estimated at over 900 meters.
    • BT840F uses a superior PCB trace antenna, proofed in the BT832F module to have the longest range at +4 dBm transmission power at 1Mbps data rate.
    • Adding +9dBm transmission power and 12dB receiver gain (in theory) for FEC (Forward Error Correction) in CODED PHY, the range between two BT840Fs will exceed 1000 meters when production silicon and production SoftDevice is ready.
    • Range between 2 BT840F is measured at 930 meters with preproduction silicon and SoftDevice.
