FTDI Chip DB9-USB-RS232 USB 2.0 Modules
FTDI DB9-USB-RS232 USB 2.0 Modules provide a simple and fast method of migrating existing DB9-based RS232 connector interfaces to USB 2.0 without the need for any board redesign. FTDI DB9-USB-RS232 modules feature a USB 2.0 mini-B connector on a module that fits a standard 9-pin DB9 connector footprint. The DB9-USB-RS232 comes in male or female versions to replace the male or female DB9 connector versions in systems equipped with legacy DB9-based RS232 connectors.These FTDI modules provide a mechanism to extend the life cycle of these systems while providing enhanced capability through the introduction of USB 2.0 connectivity. DB9-USB-RS232 modules utilize the popular FTDI FT232R USB 2.0 to serial UART converter IC, which handles the USB protocol conversion.
