Mikroe MIKROE-3310 3D Hall 3 Click board™
Mikroe MIKROE-3310 3D Hall 3 Click board™ is an accurate magnetic sensing Click board™ used to measure the intensity of the magnetic field across three perpendicular axes. This Mikroe board has a low-power 3D magnetic LIS2MDL sensor from STMicroelectronics and a triple 2-channel multiplexer/demultiplexer 74HC4053 IC from NXP. The board features an embedded self-test, support for the hard iron compensation, selectable power mode, 16-bit data output, and a wide dynamic range of measurement (±50 gauss). The MIKROE-3310 3D Hall 3 Click board is ideal for various position-sensing applications, contactless knobs, encoders, switches, and potentiometers. This Click board is also ideal for other magnetic field sensing applications based on accurate spatial sensing.The LIS2MDL sensor from STMicroelectronics has a separate hall sensing element on each axis. This sensor offers a basis for accurate positional calculations with an accurate and reliable measurement of the magnetic field intensity in a 3D space. The internal magnetic field sensing elements are multiplexed and connected to a 16-bit low-noise Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). This will sequentially sample each sensor by providing 16-bit spatial data over the digital interface.
The 74HC4053 IC from NXP is used with the RST pin of the mikroBUS™ to perform both SPI READ and SPI WRITE functions. This allows the demultiplex of the SDI/SDO pin of the LIS2MDL and routes the two resulting pins to the appropriate pins of the mikroBUS™ (SDI and SDO).
